LUMINISE ME...

Lets talk highlighting do's and dont's.

Using my beauty makeup guide book from Rae Morris, I'm giving you the tips to know about using illuminators. Does anyone else get confused on where you're suppose to apply a highlighter?

Follow this pick to discover the true benefits of highlighting your gorgeous face!
 Do:
  • Wax that upper lip girls! When applying illuminator to your cupids bow know one wants to see moustaches highlighted!
  • Pale skin tones should opt for illuminators in sheer 'eggshell' soft gold pigments and creams
  • Medium skin tones; soft golds and rose golds are your friends.
  • Purchase deep gold and bronzes for a highlighter if you have a darker complexion
  • Black skin tones should choose illuminators that are burgundy, dark and shimmery chocolate.

Don't:
  • Never use white or silver greys to highlight your skin. The exception is in the inner corners of the eye.
  • I advise you not to draw attention to your brow bone if it's not prominent to begin with. Expert Rae Morris says, "never highlight something you don't want people to look at".
  • Avoid cream highlighter on your lids, as cream creates a crease. But, please feel free to use them elsewhere!

My FAB fav is MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel $40

Prime Time...

I’ve been chatting amongst the girls lately and it turns out they never wear primer…I’m still in shock! Have you not heard of prime time?

I’m talking about priming your makeup. It’s that product that you work onto your face between your pick of moisturiser and your must-have foundation.

A primer has a purpose and it’s all about makeup staying power! You’re giving your foundation a perfect base to work with. Before you rush off to buy one, have a think about what you want in a primer. They’re no longer one-trick ponies. There are primers that moisturise, prime and protect skin from environmental factors, like the sun! Yes, primers have SPF too!

Here are some of my picks…
Estee Lauder Face Primer Plus $42

Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer $28.95
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Bronzing $54.95

Face Of Australia Face Primer SPF 15 3 in 1 $12.95

Don't Bite Me...

This post is more of an educational one. I want to talk about nail biting. Although I've never been a victim of this beauty crime (haha, it's okay, you can be helped), I do have quite a few friends who continue to bite their nails.

If you're a nail biter, you probably developed it during childhood, and sometimes it can be a nervous habit. So, you do it unconsciously due to anxiety, stress or boredom.

When you bite your nails, you transfer bacteria back and forth between your mouth and fingers(eeewww, am I getting you to reconsider biting them yet?). If not, here's five ways to stop the habit.

1. Groom your nails. Some people usually bite their nails to fix "problems". Give yourself a manicure once a week, using a nail file, buffer and cutlicle pusher.

2. Take a stroll down to your local chemist and walk through the nail aisle. There should be creams, oils and polishes designed to stop you from chomping away at your tips. Some nail biters have successfully kicked the habit this way, while others get used to the taste or are too disgusted by it to keep it on their nails

3. Try distracting yourself. Keeping your hands busy will prevent you from chipping away at them. Invest in a stress ball!

4. If you haven't kicked the habit yet, you need to figure out why you do it. Why do you constantly feel the need to bite your nails? Is it because of stress? Or are you anxious about something in particular? Whatever it may be, talk to someone.

5. When your nail biting is extreme you need to seek some treatment from a doctor. In most cases, it's a behavioural problem and therefore, you need to try some relaxation techniques!

Mixing It Up...

Ever thought about wearing silver and gold together? I'm a massive fan of this look. Some may criticise, but really...get a life! What's life without experimentation?! Learn from those who do it best...
